State clean-energy siting bills turned less restrictive in 2026
What happened
Canary Media reported that state clean-energy permitting policy has become more balanced in 2026 than in 2025, citing Siting Solutions Project tracking of more than 200 bills in over 40 states. The article says only one of 86 restrictive solar, wind, and battery siting bills had become law so far, while several states passed policies meant to streamline or clarify project approvals.
