Severe drought is shrinking major European rivers

What happened

Severe drought is lowering the Danube, Rhine, Po, and other European rivers, disrupting nuclear-plant cooling, commercial shipping, irrigation, and drinking-water supplies. Inside Climate News reports that Romanian crews worked to preserve Danube flow to the Cernavoda nuclear plant, while 101 Italian municipalities faced medium-to-high drinking-water threats.
