Oklo test reactor reaches criticality, while commercial power remains unlicensed

Oklo's Groves Isotope Test Reactor reached a sustained nuclear chain reaction near Austin, Canary Media reports. The low-power facility is designed to demonstrate medical-isotope production and is one of several projects in the Department of Energy's reactor pilot program; it is not one of Oklo's proposed 75-megawatt commercial power reactors.
