Privacy and measurement
Educational outreach measurement should be useful, limited, and understandable.
ACC uses anonymous Netlify traffic totals and, only when a visitor allows it, Google Analytics to understand how people find and use public educational resources.
What Netlify records
Netlify Web Analytics uses the site's server logs to provide aggregate pageviews, period-unique visitor totals, popular pages, approximate locations, and traffic sources. ACC uses those totals as an independent check on overall website activity.
Forms, member accounts, and donations
Contact, newsletter, and ACC-managed donation-preference forms are processed through Netlify Forms so ACC can receive and respond to them. Member account and community information is processed through ACC's configured Supabase project. Do not submit sensitive payment information through an ACC contact or community form.
For ACC-managed choices, the donation-preference form sends the donor's email address, one requested destination, and an ACC tracking reference to Netlify before secure checkout. GoDaddy Payments separately processes the amount, billing information, payment method, fraud checks, and checkout Notes. Donors are instructed to use the same email and paste the ACC reference into Notes so ACC can manually reconcile the preference and payment.
Selecting NatureJAB uses a different, direct route. ACC does not submit that selection or ask for an email address; the donor follows an external link and gives directly to JAB Innovations. JAB Innovations and its payment processor, currently Stripe, process that checkout under their own terms and privacy practices. ACC does not receive the payment data or independently verify the gift.
For ACC-managed choices, the donation page keeps the current preference in short-lived session storage for up to 30 minutes and clears the older persistent-storage version when possible. ACC may retain form, transaction, allocation, receipt, and proof-delivery records as needed to answer the donor's request and maintain financial records.
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics is not loaded by ACC's website code until a visitor selects Allow anonymous analytics. When allowed, it can record:
- Public page visits and campaign labels attached to an incoming link.
- Whether an educational page reached 50% or 90% scroll depth. This is an engagement signal, not proof that the material was read or understood.
- Clicks from an ACC news brief to its cited source.
- Clicks from a news brief into another ACC educational resource.
- A completed newsletter signup when the confirmation page is reached.
ACC configures this measurement with Google Signals and ad-personalization signals disabled.
What ACC's custom tracker does not intentionally send
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or street addresses.
- Form contents, messages, comments, passwords, or member identifiers.
- Donation, billing, banking, or payment details.
- Follower identities, contact lists, or private audience records.
Your choice
You can allow or decline optional analytics. Your preference is stored in your browser so the site remembers it. Use the Analytics settings control to change the choice later.
Third-party service
If optional analytics is allowed, Google processes standard website analytics information under its own policies. Netlify processes site hosting and form submissions, Supabase processes configured member-account data, and GoDaddy Payments processes ACC's hosted payment information. For a direct NatureJAB donation, JAB Innovations and Stripe process the external checkout instead. Each service operates under its own terms and privacy practices.
