Privacy and measurement
Educational outreach measurement should be useful, limited, and understandable.
ACC uses anonymous Netlify traffic totals and, only when a visitor allows it, Google Analytics to understand how people find and use public educational resources.
What Netlify records
Netlify Web Analytics uses the site's server logs to provide aggregate pageviews, period-unique visitor totals, popular pages, approximate locations, and traffic sources. ACC uses those totals as an independent check on overall website activity.
Forms, member accounts, and donations
Contact and newsletter forms are processed through Netlify Forms so ACC can receive and respond to them. Member account and community information is processed through ACC's configured Supabase project. Do not submit sensitive payment information through an ACC contact or community form.
For gifts through ACC, selecting a destination opens its dedicated GoDaddy Pay Link. ACC does not require a separate donor email form or send a preference or tracking code to Netlify before payment. GoDaddy Payments processes hosted checkout, including the amount, any requested contact or billing details, payment method, receipt, and fraud checks under its own terms and privacy practices. The dedicated link identifies the intended ACC destination.
NatureJAB, AI Now Institute, CodeCarbon, Food & Water Watch and WattTime use direct-recipient routes. ACC does not submit that selection or ask for a donor email address; you follow an external link and complete the gift with the recipient or its payment platform. NatureJAB uses JAB Innovations’ donation page; CodeCarbon uses GitHub Sponsors. The recipient and its providers process any checkout, contact details and receipts under their own terms and privacy practices. ACC does not receive their payment data or independently verify those gifts.
The donation page does not save a new donor preference or donor email in browser storage. It removes the old ACC donation-preference key, when storage is available, without sending its contents anywhere. Existing ACC form and financial records are not deleted by that browser cleanup. ACC may retain payment, allocation, transfer, receipt, and correspondence records as needed for accounting, legal obligations, disputes, and donor requests.
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics is not loaded by ACC's website code until a visitor selects Allow anonymous analytics. When allowed, it can record:
- Public page visits and campaign labels attached to an incoming link.
- Whether an educational page reached 50% or 90% scroll depth. This is an engagement signal, not proof that the material was read or understood.
- Clicks from an ACC news brief to its cited source.
- Clicks from a news brief into another ACC educational resource.
- A completed newsletter signup when the confirmation page is reached.
ACC configures this measurement with Google Signals and ad-personalization signals disabled.
What ACC's custom tracker does not intentionally send
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or street addresses.
- Form contents, messages, comments, passwords, or member identifiers.
- Donation, billing, banking, or payment details.
- Follower identities, contact lists, or private audience records.
Your choice
You can allow or decline optional analytics. Your preference is stored in your browser so the site remembers it. Use the Analytics settings control to change the choice later.
Third-party service
If optional analytics is allowed, Google processes standard website analytics information under its own policies. Netlify processes site hosting and form submissions, Supabase processes configured member-account data, and GoDaddy Payments processes ACC's hosted payment information. Direct-recipient gifts are processed separately by the recipient and its providers, including GitHub Sponsors for CodeCarbon. Each service operates under its own terms and privacy practices.
