$650,000 grant expands climate training for South Jersey teachers
What happened
A $650,000 New Jersey Department of Education grant will let Stockton University continue free climate-change training for K-12 teachers in eight southern counties. The third year of support brings the program's total state award to $1.9 million and extends workshops through April 2027.
Why it matters
Teachers need both accurate climate science and locally relevant ways to help students investigate causes, impacts, and responses. The collaborative connects university faculty with wetlands, watersheds, community gardens, conservation groups, and other field settings where South Jersey's climate risks are tangible.
