Amazon-backed Texas gas plant would power a new AI data-center campus

What happened

AFP reports that Amazon confirmed it is financing on-site power for a planned Pecos County data-center campus tied to Pacifico Energy's GW Ranch gas project. Existing permit filings describe up to 35 turbines and 7.65 gigawatts of generation, with a permitted greenhouse-gas ceiling above 30 million metric tons per year; actual emissions would depend on what is built and how often it runs.

Why it matters
